Canterbury and Southland yet again played for the Colphil Cup - an annual event played between the two regions for Over 60's.
Six men and six women traveled to Invercargill on Wednesday morning to play at the Invercargill Bowling Club in a range of Pairs, Triples and Mixed Fours over two days.
Canterbury proved too strong for the host Centre and have brought the trophy back to Christchurch with them on Thursday evening. Results can be found here: Colphil Cup Results
The origin of the Colphil Cup came about approx 6 years ago when realizing the need for our Over 60's to remain competitive at representative level. The cup is named after the two stalwards of either region - Colin Reynolds (Bowls Canterbury CEO at the time) and Phil Cross (Bowls Southland Selector) hence the name ColPhil.
The Canterbury Team consisted of the following players:
Darryl Hawker (Men's Captain)
Terry Stewart
Ian Rule
Phil Austin
Mark Lewis
Rick Day
Serena Matthews (Women's Captain)
Bev Morel
Pam Phair
Lois Grey
Viv Freeth
Annabel Walmisley
Bowls Canterbury wishes to thank Bowls Southland for hosting our players; who all had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their hospitality. We look forward to hosting the Southland team next year.
