Below are some important information files: Panel Recommendations accepted for the season Panel Review Poster A reminder that we are seeking members for the panel who are able to discuss submission/ideas that would impact clubs throughout the Canterbury region, not just their own individual club. Canterbury Men win National Intercentre

Lorraine McLeodNews

Written by Grant Hassall for Stuff NZ Canterbury have won the New Zealand men’s inter-centre bowls title for a 12th time in a fascinating and fitting finale in Auckland on Sunday afternoon. In the final, Canterbury defeated Nelson 2-1, with the fixture decided in a titanic singles clash which went the way of Canterbury’s Blackjacks international Andrew Kelly 25-24 over current world singles titleholder, Shannon McIlroy. With the final locked at one match apiece, it all came down to the singles game. McIlroy led the singles 13-9 before Kelly turned the screws, drawing better and taking the advantage 22-14. But McIlroy showed his steel, reversing the trend and swamping Kelly. He took the lead 24-23 and then drew three shots … Read More

It was great to see entry numbers up from last season, with a total of 12 teams competing for the title. We hope all players enjoyed their day of bowls at Belfast, and would like to thank them (and all other executive committee members at clubs) for all the hard work they do throughout the season. The winners of the event were Jenny Eddy and Colin Stoddart from Halswell Bowling Club.

Town v Country O65s Fours

Lorraine McLeodNews

A wonderful day of bowls yesterday at the Darfield Bowling Club where town clubs (Elmwood Park, Canterbury 2017, Woodend, and Redcliffs Mount Pleasant) played our 4 country sub centres, Men and Women’s teams. The green was very hard and fast resulting in some pretty amazing bowls and interesting heads during all the games. A lot of laughter and friendly competition ensued and it is probably safe to say everyone enjoyed the day, players and spectators alike. Congratulations to the Town teams who have prevailed narrowly with 24 points and a +2 differential. A very close result indeed. Attached is the full result chart for your records. Canterbury Development Teams – Fantastic result in Nelson

Lorraine McLeodNews

A fantastic end to the Development Representative season for both Canterbury’s men’s and women’s teams. At the weekend Canterbury Development Teams traveled to Nelson to compete in a Development event against Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast and Buller. Playing at the Stoke Bowling Club on the competition brings together the best Development players across the top of the South Island who have been playing for less than 12 years. Predominately the Development grade is consider players who have been playing for less than 8 years and the two Canterbury teams that competed consisted of under 8 year players. The Canterbury Women were too strong for the other regions, not losing any games. They draw one fours game, but won the rest … Read More
