These bowls were stolen out of a car boot in New Brighton on Saturday. They are pretty distinctive and we’d love to get them back to their owner! If you see them for sale anywhere, please contact the police as a report has been filed.

Congratulations to Craig Carter from Methven for once again winning the Over 60s Singles title for 2021-2022! It was a tight final against Burnside’s Mike Small with the scores tied at 20 points each – right up until the 27th round with Carter taking it out by just one point! Burnside U26 Singles

On Friday 8 October, 32 lawn bowlers will step on to the Burnside Bowling Club’s greens to compete for the title ofBurnside Under 26 Singles Champion. This event is an integral part of Bowls New Zealand’s 2021-2022 Summer of Bowls programme, and as the name suggests, is contested by both young women and young men aged under 26 years of age. Covid-19 has had an impact on the 2021 tournament in that players from Auckland and the Cook Islands have withdrawn because of the Alert Levels but, despite this, a high class field has been assembled by Tournament Convenor Kerrie Bruce. Bowls New Zealand alert level guidelines These cover levels 1 – 4 and will be very helpful as we look to start opening back up. You’ll find the level 3 guidelines on page 2.  Please note these have been written as a best course of action RECCOMENDATION – it is still up to clubs to decide how they wish to operate. Club Meeting Postponed

The club meeting for delegates and secretaries scheduled for next Thursday 2nd September has been postponed as we won’t be able to safely get together in Level 3. We are working on securing a new date, but in the mean time we will communicate any need-to-know info for secretaries via email. Junior Classic COVID Update

For everyone’s safety, and due to the unpredictability of level movements, the call has been made to move Sunday’s Junior Classic coaching online. Thursday 19th an email will go out to all who registered with information on how to join the webinar on Sunday morning. The coaches have plenty to share, and there is still a lot of valuable stuff to learn before the season starts – even though we can’t get out on the greens at the moment!
