The Town teams proved to strong in both the senior grades. The youthful Town Women's Development team had a positive day taking the win and likewise with a young side from the Country taking the win in the Men's Development grade.
Well done to all the players and officials who played in 30+ degree temperatures throughout the day. A great event to start the season.

At the weekend on Sunday 3 November, the first of our representative fixtures was played with the Town and Country event.
All grades played; Senior Men's and Women's and the Development Men's and Women's which this year consists of Bowlers who have bowled for 5 years or less; previously this was 8 years.
With the change to the Development grade this has meant the Development selectors have had to look further afield and provides the opportunity for many new bowlers to have a taste of representative bowls.
This year the Women played at the Bowls Hornby Club and the Men played at the picturesque club at the Ashburton Domain. Both greens had temperatures reaching the 30s.
Each team consisted of 14 players split into two teams of seven, allowing for a wide range of players from both the Country and Town to showcase their skills to the Canterbury selectors in the hopes of gaining further representative selection for the season.
Our Umpires for the event were Wendy Suttie at the Ashburton Green and Ann Wright and Rose Murray at the Hornby greens.
