Canterbury Development Teams – Fantastic result in Nelson

Lorraine McLeodNews

A fantastic end to the Development Representative season for both Canterbury's men's and women's teams.

At the weekend Canterbury Development Teams traveled to Nelson to compete in a Development event against Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast and Buller.

Playing at the Stoke Bowling Club on the competition brings together the best Development players across the top of the South Island who have been playing for less than 12 years. Predominately the Development grade is consider players who have been playing for less than 8 years and the two Canterbury teams that competed consisted of under 8 year players.

The Canterbury Women were too strong for the other regions, not losing any games. They draw one fours game, but won the rest - meaning they finished top of the table.

The Canterbury Men also were winners at the weekend. The won 8 games and lost four - which was equal to a strong West Coast team, however differiental points gave the Canterbury boys the overall win.

A great weekend had by all - thanks to Bowls Nelson for hosting the event and all the other regions for taking part. Look forward to continuing this on for future years.
