Canterbury Fives Cancelled

Meg ParfittNews

We are sad to announce that the Canterbury Fives Tournament, scheduled to be played on December 13th – 15th 2019 will no longer be taking place. Feedback from multiple players and teams has been that the event is too close to when Canterbury are hosting the National Singles and Pairs in January. Due to this, the entry numbers have not been sufficient enough to run the event this season. We will endeavor to run the event in the 2020-2021 season. Those that have paid their entry fee will be refunded into the account provided on their entry form by November 20th 2019.

Burnside Under 26 Singles 2019 – Stokes Valley Pair Dominate the 2019 Burnside Under 26 Singles Tournament

Erica AyresNews

Canterbury’s spring weather was not kind to the Burnside Under 26 Singles Championship last weekend (4-6 October) but despite this the standard of play reflected the excellent calibre of the 32 strong field. Saturday’s dire weather forecast raised concerns for the organisers and after consulting the players a fifth game was completed late in the day. This meant that many players delivered over 400 bowls on Friday. Saturday’s cold, wind and rain showed the wisdom of this decision. Round 6 was completed in very heavy rain necessitating a break of almost three hours before the final section play games were played in the afternoon. … Read More
